Tom Firsdon

Richard “Tom” Thomas Firsdon, 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on April 05, 2023. Richard was born on September 16, 1946 in Sylvania, Ohio to Robert John Firsdon and Evelyn (King) Firsdon.
Richard attended Maumee High School (Class of 1965). He was involved in wrestling and baseball. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He worked for National Super Services Enterprises for nearly 37 years.
He is proceeded in death by his Father, Robert Firsdon and Mother Evelyn (King) Firsdon.
Tom is survived by his Wife Joann Firsdon, Daughter Wendy (Ogren), Sons, Richard, Craig, Brandyn, and eight grandchildren.
Tom had a passion for fishing, butt birding and photography with wife Joann. His joy was looking for warblers. Tom also enjoyed gardening and coin collecting.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Tom at a soon to be announced date to close family and friends.
Tom will never be forgotten and forever loved...R.I.P.
Charles Gillen

Charles "Charlie" Gillen, a beloved member of the Auburn Hills, MI community, passed away on November 7, 2023, at the age of 76. Born in Maumee, Ohio, on September 21, 1947, Charlie's life was marked by his achievements, deep connections, and passions that enriched the lives of those around him.
Charlie's educational journey brought him to the University of Detroit Mercy, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Architecture.
On April 20, 1985, Charlie and Janet were married in Des Moines, Iowa.
Professionally, Charlie made significant contributions to the field of architecture and construction during his nearly 30 year tenure at Barton Malow. He left an indelible mark on the projects he undertook, showcasing his passion and attention to detail. Beyond his professional pursuits, Charlie had a profound passion for woodworking, artwork, and the great outdoors.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Janet, his mother Rita Gillen, and his loving children, Amy (Nick) Winkler and Chris (Brittany) Gillen. His grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Lyla, Finnley, and Kinsley, were a source of joy and pride in his life. Charlie's legacy extends further through his siblings: Ron Gillen, Jerry Gillen, Jan (Dennis) Grose, Larry (Candice) Gillen, John 'Jack' (Charlotte) Gillen, and Patricia (Ken) McCabe.
In honor of Charlie's memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bare, Inc – Biliary Atresia Research and Development (www.bareinc.org).
A visitation for Charles will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307, and following the visitation there will be a funeral at 12:00 PM.
Michael Hess

Michael R. Hess, age 76 of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on May 9th 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio. He had been in the hospital battling heart issues that ultimately ended his life. Michael was born December 5, 1946 and raised in Maumee, Ohio. He was a graduate of Maumee High School and spent the first half of his life excelling in his career as a truck driver for M&M Restaurant Supply. In his career he completed countless years of perfect driving records and obtained so many trophies for local and national truck rodeo championships that we lost count. During his retirement Michael enjoyed Ohio State Football, his dogs (Sadie, Zoey and Honey) Nascar, the lakehouse and most importantly his family. Michael spent the last 20 plus years of his life married to Cindy Hess (Dodge) and raising the last of his three daughters. You may have heard him at a Rossford Bulldogs game if you attended, as he sometimes voiced his opinion to the referees.
During his life Michael had three daughters, Lori Hess, Rebecca Byrd (Steven) and Victoria Nielson (Tyler). He also was blessed with two step sons, DJ Semersky and David Semersky. Grandchildren include Brianna Hess, Jacob Bilger, and Elyza Byrd and Matthew Byrd. Michael was preceded in death by both of his parents, Donald and Constance Hess, his brother and sister Donald Hess Jr. and Judy Hess, his grandson Matthew Byrd and wife Cindy Hess. Michael's life will be celebrated on Sunday June 25th from 2:00pm-5:00pm in backyard summer BBQ format with all of his favorites the family welcomes you to join.
Dave Parker

David L. Parker, age 76, lifelong resident of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully September 24, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born February 19, 1947 in Toledo to Carl and Elizabeth (Jacobs) Parker. Dave was a 1965 graduate of Maumee High School. He was employed with Sun Oil for 10 years and then he became a Paramedic for over 28 years for the city of Maumee. Dave and wife, Jane owned and operated Rainbows End Chimney Sweeps and Mailboxes Unlimited. He worked as a Stage Hand and was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Dave was also a member of the Progressive Fishing Association for 12 years.
Dave is survived by his wife, Jane Parker; children, Kris (Brian) Liebau and Tim Parker; granddaughter, Autumn Liebau; sister, Pam Phillipps and brother-in-law, Bill Stechschulte.
The family will receive guests Monday, October 2, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614 (419-381-1900) The Maumee Fire Department will have the Last Alarm Service Monday at 7:00 p.m.
